Head of Winthrop and Legacy Brands

The Head of Winthrop & Legacy Brands will be responsible for the Winthrop portfolio strategy, financials, investment and resource plan to support the Winthrop Business.  This includes leading Winthrop’s current private label & authorized generic portfolio, and Winthrop’s Life Cycle Management strategy for current in-line brands as well as future LOE assets in Sanofi-Genzyme & General Medicines.  Reporting to the Head of CV & Established Products, the Head will serve as a key member of the CV/Established Products Leadership Team & work with their peers & broader team to transform our business by creating value for patients, customers and Sanofi. 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Ensure strategic alignment with the General Medicines organization & CV/Established Products priorities
  • Own the Winthrop P&L to achieve profitability and exceed financial targets
  • Oversee Winthrop’s direct & indirect retail and wholesale business including management of the Winthrop Key Account Management Team, the Operations Team and the Strategic Initiatives function which all report into the Head of Winthrop
  • Build, align and implement cross functional plans with a wide range of stakeholders who are vital to the success of any EP business [Supply chain, IA, Finance, Medical, Market Access, Legal, Quality, Legal, Regulatory, etc.].  Further, a close sales partnership with the National Institutional, LTC and GPO market access account teams will allow additional opportunities for collaboration and joint sales activities
  • Own the relationship with global established products teams (e.g. Global Head of Lovenox, Global Head of Trade)
  • Drive life-cycle management and portfolio shaping activities including: extensive early commercial assessments in close collaboration with IA & Global Functions to identify and launch internal legacy brands/generic products, and identification of non-organic business development opportunities & partnerships to optimize the portfolio.
  • Build the organizations competencies and capabilities to deliver executional excellence across internal systems and platforms that will allow Winthrop the nimbleness & flexibility to overachieve revenue & BOI targets
  • Attract, develop and retain key talent and build a best in class commercial team cultivating an inclusive high-performance environment that values and leverages diversity
  • Ensure strong ethics & compliance to all Sanofi policies & regulations

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Ideal candidate will require strategic Generic & EP industry experience, financial acumen, and ability to operationalize the forecast into deliverable sales while managing internal and external relationships at very senior levels
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • MBA or other advanced degree is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years of generics and/or established products commercial experience with responsibility to establish a strategic vision and annual operational plan
  • Experience building & directly leading commercial teams; key account management experience
  • Established relationships with key US generic retail & wholesaler GPO customers, stakeholders & decision makers
  • Business development, partnerships & life cycle management experience preferred
  • Fundamental understanding of product commercialization (marketing, sales, medical) is a plus, as some products may warrant more traditional commercial approaches
  • Understanding of US regulatory pathways, distribution channels and key customer segments 

The successful candidate will be required to sign and execute a restricted covenant upon hire.
